  Ideas for Running Successful Promotions

"Tried and true"-it's an old axiom to hold on to when developing effective promotions. In creating that knock-out promotion, it's always good to know what has worked in the past and build upon it. What follows is a sampling of promotional and customer relations ideas that other distributors have used successfully to build strong contractor relationships and grow their business.

Remember that prior approval is needed for all promotions if you're utilizing your Burnham co-op dollars. Contact Burnham's advertising department at (717) 397-4701 for approval before you launch your promotion. Also, make sure you check local laws concerning sweepstakes, contests, or lotteries.
 

Promotional Ideas Based on Boiler Purchases:

  • Give away tickets to a sporting event, theater production, amusement park, etc.
     
  • Consider a gift certificate to a local store or popular restaurant.
     
  • Make a charitable donation to a local non-profit agency in the name of your trade customer.
     
  • Consider a gift certificate for dinner and the movies.
     
  • Distribute savings bonds.
     
  • Use electronics gifts, such as a Sony Walkman, DVD player, Boom Box, etc.

  • Give away customer appreciation/recognition plaques with your trade customers name inscribed.
     
  • Coordinate a vacation or bus trip to some tourist destination.

  • Consider a gift certificate to Bass Pro Shop or a local hunting/fishing retail store.
     
  • Purchase a free ad in the local newspaper for your customer.
     
  • Give a discount or rebate on the purchase of an Alliance tank or radiant pipe.

  • Present a dealer-imprinted jacket or tee shirt from The Burnham Collection catalog.

  • Give away a turkey, ham, or other seasonal item focused around the key holidays.

Contractor Relations Ideas

  • Sponsor, in your customer's name, the weather or winter school closings on the TV/radio.

  • Extend same-as-cash financing options on all Burnham purchases.

  • Offer a referral award to trade customers that bring in new contractors to your company.
